Brian Roberts and the Yankees have agreed to a one-year deal worth around $2 million plus incentives, according to sources. New York will continue to explore other infield options. Roberts’ low salary enables the Yankees to keep looking. Source:

Brian Roberts’ signing with the Yankees seemed to catch the Orioles by surprise. Roberts is a longtime favorite of Orioles owner Peter Angelos.

Yankees likely to sign free-agent 2B Brian Roberts, according to a source.

Addition of 2B Brian Roberts would not preclude Yankees from adding another infielder, perhaps free-agent 3B Mark Reynolds, sources say. Given Roberts’ injury history, the Yankees would not necessarily be comfortable with potential Roberts/Kelly Johnson combination at 2B/3B.

Source confirms Dodgers’ deal with JP Howell is $11.25 million over 2 years, plus $6.25 million vesting option. Deal not yet complete.

Jesse Crain, who did not pitch after June 29 due to a shoulder injury, is still garnering interest on free-agent market. He has received multiple offers. Crain is trying to figure out whether he wants to go for a 1- or 2-year deal. He had a 0.74 ERA in the first half of 2013.
